Hello. I’m Richard and you’re welcome to browse and make contact and ask questions.

If you’re new to counselling, or psychotherapy, then don’t panic. It’s normal to look for support when dealing with difficult things. It’s normal to feel a bit anxious too, that’s okay. We can work together in a safe space, without judgement. My role is to listen, hold your load for you, offer support, share insights and be alongside you. Together we build our relationship and travel onwards, in our safe bubble. We might laugh too, I like laughter.

Counselling and psychotherapy are similar. Psychotherapy tends to have a higher level of qualification and can focus on deeper issues. The word ‘psychotherapy’ can feel intimidating to some people, so you can chose the word that feels better for you.

I’m interested in endings and beginnings and survival and progress. We all have to deal with difficult things in life and therapy is a lovely way to explore the tough stuff, in a safe and judgement-free environment.

I’m also interested in death. Why not? Death and taxes are the two certainties in life and yet we rarely talk about the former and take it on the chin when something happens to someone we care about. Death and bereavement can be about the end of a relationship, the loss of a job, the passing of a loved one, the sense of our own life passing by.

If we consider issues relating to bereavement and explore our sense of loss, fear and sadness, then we can live better. We can choose to talk it through, be supported, feel all our feelings and make progress.
