Commercial Terms

The following are my standard terms and conditions. When we start working together they form the contract the exists between us and we both agree to uphold them. I am happy to discuss items and we can make adjustments as needed.

PRIVATE CLIENTS

I work with private individuals and couples, over 18 years of age, who book sessions for themselves.

  • Sessions last for 60 minutes for individuals and up to 90 minutes for couples.
  • The way I works is to be flexible, so that you can balance your needs with your availability and your budget.
  • You can stop sessions when you want to, or you can take a break. You don’t have to have weekly sessions and many of my clients prefer to have sessions every other week, or once a month.
  • For online sessions I tend to use Zoom or WhatsApp. Both work well and I will send out relevant invites before booked sessions. I don’t mind if you use a mobile phone, or a laptop, as long as you are in a quiet, safe and confidential space.
  • In person sessions usually take place in Dereham (Norfolk, UK). I am also happy for us to find a suitable place outside in the fresh air, if you would like to walk and talk.
  • Sessions are confidential between us. I reserve the right to make process notes, as part of my professional practice. These notes are for my own benefit and are not shared with you, or a third party. They are also kept in a secure place.
  • When we begin sessions I may ask you for relevant information, such as date of birth, contact details, emergency contact, home address, GP surgery and details of any current medication, or important issues that I need to be aware of.
  • Safeguarding is an important consideration. If there are clear issues/risks then I will discuss these with you first. If you are unwilling/unable to act then I reserve the right to approach relevant third parties and to disclose relevant information, as this is part of my ethical and professional practice.
  • My current fee rates are £70 per session for individuals and £130 per session for couples.
  • Sessions are invoiced after month end. There is nothing to pay up front. I am happy to discuss terms with you, so that we are both happy.
  • Missed sessions, or sessions cancelled at short notice (less than 48hrs), will be invoiced as standard.
  • Sessions may be recorded as part of my professional practice. All recordings will be agreed between us and you have the right to decline to be recorded, or to ask for a recording to be stopped at any point. Recordings are held in a secure place and if used as part of ongoing professional development are anonymised.
  • I have regular professional supervision on my practice, with a UCKP registered Supervisor. These sessions are confidential and are bound by ethical practice requirements. I also have a Therapeutic Will with my Supervisor, so that if something serious happens to me they are able to access my notes and contact you. This is a key part of ethical and professional practice.
  • Richard Maun Therapy is a trading style of Primary People Ltd. This is my company, that holds relevant professional insurance and sends out the invoices. Therefore, our professional contract is between you and this company.

ORGANISATIONAL CLIENTS

I work with organisations and provide counselling and psychotherapy services to their employees, to improve mental health and well-being.

Our contract is the same as above, with the following variations:

  • Clients may be introduced to me via the organisation, or may come directly.
  • A suitable person in the organisation may be informed that the client is having sessions and are attending sessions. This person will not be informed about the nature of sessions. However, if there are safeguarding risks/issues then they may be informed as part of ethical and professional practice.
  • The organisation has no right to read notes, or listen to recordings. These remain confidential.
  • If the client leaves their organisaton for any reason, they have the right to contract with me directly and continue sessions, by mutual agreement.
  • The client’s career, promotion prospects, or other organisational elements will not be affected by this work.
  • Commercial terms, such as payment amounts, may be confidential between the organisation and Primary People Ltd.
